Abstract:
Despite efforts to build a prosperous Kenya
through vision 2030, the country still faces
many challenges including, especially the
high rate of unemployment, high levels of
poverty, inequality in development and
income distribution. Vision 2030 plan was
aimed at helping the government to
implement policies and plans that would see
Kenya become a prosperous country by the
year 2030. By the beginning of the year 2015,
seven years after laying the foundation for the
first phase of implementing vision 2030, the
target set out to be achieved in education
tourism, health and agriculture sectors during
the first phase were far from being achieved.
This paper discusses the challenges that have
affected the timely realization of Kenya‟s
vision 2030. The paper argues that vision
2030 can only be realized through the
involvement of all Kenyans, including
millions of poor Kenyans who have not had
access to formal education. The paper argues
that in order for Kenya to become globally
competitive, development has to take place in
all sectors and this means, mobilizing all
Kenyans to participate in the development of
their country. In order to access these Kenyans, the right languages and local
languages have to be used
