The study was conducted in Teso South sub-county to assess the influence of exposure to Tinea Corporis on knowledge and prevention practices in the community. A total of 422 questionnaires were distributed, of which 399 questionnaires were completed and submitted for analysis thus giving the study a 94.5% response rate. The data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics on Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) version 23 software. The results revealed a 60% exposure to Tinea Corporis among the study participants; 58.4% (n=233) had poor knowledge on the disease and 68.9% (n=275) had good practice towards prevention of the disease. In addition, the study revealed an association between exposure and knowledge on the disease (p = 0.167); though there was a significant association between exposure and practice towards prevention of the disease (p= 0.037). The study recommended for health education and promotion to empower the community on the knowledge on Tinea Corporis. |
