The German Academic Exchange&#13;
Service (DAAD) in partnership with the&#13;
British Council conceived this research&#13;
project and co-funded it together, with&#13;
support from the German Federal&#13;
Ministry of Education and Research.&#13;
The overall study was commissioned&#13;
to the African Network for&#13;
Internationalisation of Education (ANIE),&#13;
and their network of researchers across&#13;
Sub Saharan Africa. In particular, the&#13;
work of the following individuals should&#13;
be acknowledged:&#13;
James Jowi and Dr Charles Ochieng&#13;
Ong’ondo for their oversight of the role&#13;
of ANIE; and Peter Barasa (PhD) together&#13;
with Carolyne Omulando (PhD) both&#13;
of the Department of Curriculum,&#13;
Instruction and Educational Media,&#13;
Moi University, Kenya for leading the&#13;
research in Kenya.&#13;
ANIE led the empirical research and&#13;
produced the initial analysis, and&#13;
then worked together with Dr Tristan&#13;
McCowan and Elisa Brewis at University&#13;
College London Institute of Education&#13;
to finalise this country report.&#13;
Helmut Blumbach from the DAAD and&#13;
Michael Peak from the British Council&#13;
drove the study forward.
